Traffic Flow- Arrival Dismissal
Parent Pick Up & Drop Off
The school day for Cobb is from 8:20 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students have the option to ride the GPISD bus (see bus information below).
Mornings:
Due to supervisory schedules, students who do not ride the bus should arrive at school no earlier than 7:15 a.m. Upon arrival, students should report directly to the cafeteria. Parents will not be able
to walk their child to class.
Afternoons:
Students who are not attending an after-school function should be picked up by 4:00 p.m. Car rider tag numbers will be provided. Please place them on the dashboard when picking up your child. All students not picked up by this time will be directed to either a tutorial session or detention (which will not count against their discipline report) in an effort to ensure they are supervised and safe while at school. Students cannot be checked out after 3:00 p.m.
***Please refer to the map for guidance on the student pick-up process.
Note: Due to our large size, pick-up and drop off can be congested and time consuming. Parents electing to do this must only drop students off in the circle driveway. This is to ensure our students’ safety. Students will not be allowed to walk through the parking lot or to the street without a parent. Consequences will be issued for students dropped off or picked up in the parking lot. Walker Passes will be issued to students who live in the New Forest Subdivision.
Bus Information:
The Galena Park Independent District is committed to the safety of all children who ride in our district vehicles. Due to that commitment, please know that any student behavior that compromises the safe operation of GPISD vehicles will be addressed immediately according to the Student Code of Conduct and state law. The District has the same expectations for student behavior on a district vehicle or bus stop that it does on the school campus. Any student who fails to comply with the Student Code of Conduct, or established rules of conduct, while on school district transportation, may be denied transportation services and shall be subject to disciplinary action. District transportation is a privilege.
